Keeping Your Retainers Safe

Retainer wear is essential in keeping the straight teeth that you worked so hard to achieve. Retainers should be kept in a case up and away from animals and small children. The most common things we hear are “the dog ate my retainer” and “my retainer was accidentally thrown away”. As your Denver orthodontist, we strongly recommend having one designated spot for keeping your retainer to insure it is safe and away from harm. If a lost or broken retainer should happen, make sure you contact your Denver orthodontist right away to have a new retainer made or your straight teeth could shift. And in some cases tooth movement can happen quickly resulting in another round of braces or Invisalign treatment.
